The Evogro cabinet appliance complies with all relevant local and national safety requirements. Improper use can, however, present a risk of both personal injury and material damage. To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the appliance, please read these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. They contain important notes on the installation, safety, operation and care of the appliance. Keep these instructions in a safe place and pass them on to any future user.
This appliance is intended for professional use only for growing plants. Any other usage is not supported by the manufacturer and could be dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage resulting from the incorrect or improper use of the appliance.
The Evogro EC4 is intended for use by professional users only.
All users of the appliance should have received proper training from Evogro in the use of the appliance, and be familiar with the contents of the user manual.
It is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge.
This appliance is not a toy! To avoid the risk of injury, do not allow children to play with it or near it, or to play with the controls.
The International Standard EN 62471, Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems, describes the photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems including luminaires.
The Evogro EC4 contains powerful LED light sources, in particular Blue LEDs for plant growth.
The rating of the Evogro EC4 according to this standard is Risk Group 2: Do not stare at the operating light source. The philosophical basis for this classification is that the lamp does not pose a hazard due to the aversion response to very bright light sources or due to the thermal discomfort.
Keep the door of your EC4 cabinet closed to reduce the light intensity.
Before commencing any work in the cabinet, activate the White View Light.

The list below outlines potential food safety hazards and suggests control measures that customers should incorporate into their procedures.
Plants may become contaminated with human pathogens.
Treat edible plant material harvested from your Evogro as you would any other similar incoming fresh produce that would be consumed raw. Measures may include: Washing in fresh water; Double washing in fresh water; Washing in approved fruit & vegetable sanitizer.
Only the aerial parts of the plant (stems and leaves) are edible. The plant roots, seeds and seed husks and the growing media/substrate are not edible.
Take care when harvesting to cleanly separate the edible plant material (stem & leaves) from non-edible plant material (roots, seeds and seed husks) and the growing media/substrate.
Hold the stem or stems of plants to be harvested and use scissors or snips to cut the stem of the plant 1cm above the level of the substrate. Lift the harvested stems and place in a clean container.
Pathogens carried by humans could be transferred to growing plants.
Ensure only trained staff work with the Evogro cabinet and perform crop husbandry tasks.
Staff should follow standard personal hygiene and fitness for work guidelines appropriate for a food service environment.
Always wash your hands or use gloves when working with the Evogro cabinet and performing crop husbandry tasks.
If your cabinet is in a location where it is accessible by the public, ensure the door is kept locked.
Evogro related materials such as seeds and growing media could be contaminated by spilling other materials or liquids on them, or may be attacked by pests.
Store your Evogro related materials in a cool dry place, in a sealable box or close-able cupboard.
Discard any contaminated materials and notify Evogro to despatch replacements.
Other foodstuffs could be contaminated by spilling seeds, growing media or chemicals on them.
Ensure you have adequate working space well away from other open foodstuffs when sowing seeds, harvesting, or performing other crop husbandry tasks.
Clean the working space afterwards.
Discard any other foodstuffs that become contaminated.
Soil and potted plants grown outside may harbour plant pests and diseases and human pathogens.
Never use growing media or fertilisers in your cabinet other than specified by Evogro.
Never put into your cabinet potted plants that have been grown outside your cabinet.
Lack of hygiene may attract pests and diseases.
Keep your cabinet interior and exterior surfaces clean.
Rinse and clean tools after use.
Clean your growing trays in between crop cycles.
Do not reuse growing media.
Change the air and water filters on the schedule specified.
Drain and clean your reservoir on the schedule specified.
Dead or decaying plant matter in your cabinet may attract pests or diseases.
Don’t harvest plants inside the cabinet.
Promptly remove any debris or decaying plant matter.
Plants may be attacked by pests and diseases
Report any observation of plant pests or diseases to Evogro. This may include plant discoloration or deformation or visible insects.
Promptly follow any instructions provided by Evogro.

Evogro cabinets are large, heavy items. Tall cabinets present a risk of tipping or falling over which could cause serious physical injuries such as Impact or Crush Injuries, Broken or Fracture Bones, Spinal Disc damage, Ruptures, Hernias, Ligament damage, Tendon damage, Muscle Strain.
Tall Cabinets should be placed on a level floor and should be secured at all times to a wall using a tie back that prevents the cabinet tipping or falling over.
Evogro cabinets are large, heavy items. Moving the cabinets presents a risk of serious physical injuries such as Impact or Crush Injuries, Broken or Fracture Bones, Spinal Disc damage, Ruptures, Hernias, Ligament damage, Tendon damage, Muscle Strain.
Only staff trained in Manual Handling Safe Lifting Techniques to undertake moving cabinets.
Moving a cabinet will always require a team of two people.
Contact Evogro in advance for advice or assistance.
Do not use stairs – always confirm a lift is available before setting off and if not make alternative arrangements. i.e. contact Evogro to disassemble and re-assemble on site.
The following procedure supplements general guidance on Manual Handling Safe Lifting Techniques:
1. Remove any loose items from within cabinet
2. Drain reservoir and disconnect water supply (if applicable)
3. Turn off power and disconnect the power supply cable
4. Secure the cabinet door (lock if available or use a strap)
5. If cabinet is on castors, proceed to step 8.
6. If cabinet is on legs, use a high back 3-in-1 truck or other appropriate moving aid.
7. Before use, inspect truck for any defects/damage. Secure cabinet to truck with two ratchet straps.
8. Check the route to new location is free of obstacles
9. With one person in front and one behind, slowly roll to new location
10. When in position, check cabinet is stable and secure to wall using a tie back.
11. Replace loose items
12. Reconnect power and water supply.
Staff may suffer irritation and burns to eyes and skin from direct contact with corrosive chemicals.
Keep chemicals in closed containers and lockable storage.
Use gloves and safety glasses when handling.
Clear up spills immediately.
