How to prepare coir bricks

Step 1. Place coir brick in mixing box.

Unwrap the coir brick and place in one end of your mixing box. 

Put something under the other end of the box so it is angled down towards the brick

Step 2. Pour water onto brick

Fill Jug with 2.5 - 3 litres warm tap water. 

Slowly pour the water over the brick. 

Rotate the brick and pour equal amounts over each side.

Step 3. Leave for 10 Minutes or longer

Wait until the water is absorbed and the brick has expanded.

Step 4. Break up the brick

Use the scoop to break up the brick. Work from each side and the moistened coir will fall way.

Step 6. Break up any lumps and remove debris

Using the scoop or your hands, break up any lumps in the coir. If you find any leaves or twigs, remove them.

Step 7. Add perlite and mix

Slowly pour the bag of perlite over the coir. 

Use the scoop or your hands to mix well.

Step 8. Ready to Sow

Your Coir + Perlite mix is now ready to use. 

Step 9. Always Store with Lid On

To prevent contamination always store your prepared mix with the lid on the box.
