The punnets for growing have drainage holes in the bottom which are covered by a paper liner. Put in a level scoop or empty a bag of base coir/perlite mix (the larger bags) into the punnet. Tap the punnet to level the coir.Â
Put punnets into a clean tray, with a clean mesh. Fill a jug with 800mls of cold clean tap water. Slowly pour this into the bottom of the tray. The coir in the punnets should start to absorb the liquid through their bottoms and when the top surface looks moist, proceed to the next step.
Sow the seeds provided into each punnet, take care to distribute them as evenly as possible. Use the triangular scoop. One sachet per punnet. If sowing a variety of different seeds, click on the "i" symbol in the Sow Tray Task, this will show you the tray template.
Fill the spray bottle with tap water and then liberally spray the top of each punnet.
Some seeds prefer to be buried, eg Nasturtiums. If your seeds require this it will be written on the seed packet, you will have a small bag of topping coir without perlite. Spread the topping coir over the top of the seeds, taking care to cover the seeds.
Cover the growing tray with clingfilm and place the tray back in the cabinet. Align the pipe on the tray with the socket on the shelf and press down. You should hear a click and the tray should be lying flat and centered on the shelf.
In the Evogro app, complete the Sow Tray task, so the system starts the germination phase.
